Sports physician Dr. Bernd Reinhard explains why our backs need movement – and how the Aeris Swopper helps prevent back pain and tension through dynamic sitting.
Designer
Henner Jahns
"Momentum that comes from the heart can move the most." Henner Jahns followed this motivation when designing the Aeris Swopper. With this ergonomic office stool, the designer has created a high-end office furniture piece that combines individual and elegant design with innovative function. According to Jahns, "life is movement," and the ergonomic office stool reflects precisely that in all its facets – a stool that not only looks good but also keeps people moving.

Frequently Asked Questions
The right Swopper depends on your needs: the Aeris Swopper Standard is suitable for most users (50–120 kg). For tables lower than 65 cm, the Aeris Swopper Low is ideal. The Aeris Swopper High is ideal for people over 185 cm. People weighing under 50 kg and shorter than 165 cm should choose the Aeris Swopper Light. For particularly soft and breathable seating comfort, the Aeris Swopper Air offers the best solution thanks to its special padding.
Yes, you can sit on the Aeris Swopper all day long. As your back supports itself through the dynamic sitting motion, you don’t need a backrest. The constant movement strengthens your muscles, improves blood circulation and prevents tension. This is a sign that muscles that were previously unused are being activated and exercised.
The Aeris Swopper Air is particularly suitable for those with sensitive ischial tuberosities or coccyx problems. The specially developed foam padding, featuring a softer, highly breathable foam, ensures that pressure on sensitive areas is noticeably reduced. The breathable mesh cover also helps to maintain a cool seating environment, even during prolonged periods of sitting.
To ensure the correct sitting position on the Aeris Swopper, sit in the centre so that the spring strut supports your spine. Keep both feet flat on the floor, with your hips higher than your knees to maintain an open angle. Swing vigorously to straighten up. This keeps your spine straight and promotes blood circulation and oxygen supply.
Vertical rocking (swopping) strengthens the back muscles, promotes blood flow to the intervertebral discs and prevents blood from pooling in the legs. This makes you feel fitter and helps prevent back pain. The 3D-moving seat ensures that you automatically sit correctly whilst also doing something for your health.
Whether you choose castors or gliders for your Swopper depends on your floor covering and your needs. Castors are ideal for carpeted floors or for more mobility, while gliders provide more stability on hard floors.
Yes, it is in principle possible to swap the castors for glides – or vice versa – on the Aeris Swopper, but it is a labour-intensive process. As the foot rings on Swopper models with glides and those with castors are designed differently, castors cannot simply be fitted under a glide foot ring. The conversion must be carried out at the factory using specialist tools, which involves completely replacing the foot ring. Depending on the model and year of manufacture, the cost for this can be up to 300 EUR*. We recommend checking carefully in advance which foot ring best suits your requirements. *Information provided without guarantee
Yes, the spring strut on your Aeris Swopper can be replaced at a later date, but only at the factory. The replacement requires specialised tools and is carried out by our qualified staff. The old spring strut is removed and replaced with a new one. The cost of this service is up to 350 EUR*, depending on the model and year of manufacture. We recommend that you consider the replacement carefully and contact our customer service team to plan the modification of your Swopper. *Information provided without guarantee
The right seat cover depends on your preferences and how you intend to use it. Wool blends such as Capture are hard-wearing, breathable and pleasantly soft. Microfibre (Comfort) is easy to care for, whilst leather (Leather) looks elegant and is easy to clean. The Cura fabric is made from 100% recycled polyester, bears the EU Ecolabel and is certified to the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100. For a breathable option, the Aeris Swopper Air is ideal, featuring high-tech padding for exceptionally soft seating comfort.
The Aeris Swopper adapts to you – simply by adjusting the spring tension! In just a few simple steps, you can adjust the spring so that the vertical rocking motion is perfectly suited to your weight. Turn the collar on the Aeris Swopper’s spring strut: Clockwise: For lighter users or more rocking motion. Anti-clockwise: For heavier users or less rocking motion. The aim is gentle suspension without ‘bouncing’. Adjust the swing to suit your level of activity so that your back remains active.
To adjust the lateral flexibility, turn the Aeris Swopper upside down. Then turn the handwheel in the (+) or (-) direction for softer or harder flexibility.
To look after your Aeris Swopper, vacuum the wool-blend cover gently on a regular basis and remove stains straight away using lukewarm water and a pH-neutral detergent. For microfibre covers, use pH-neutral soapy water; for greasy stains, use ethyl alcohol. Mesh fabric, such as that used on the Swopper Air, should be cleaned with a damp cloth – not a wet one – and you should avoid using chlorine-based cleaners.
Yes, the Aeris Swopper is infinitely height adjustable. Using the gas pressure spring, you can individually adjust the seat height so that the Swopper is optimally adjusted to your height and your workstation. This ensures maximum seating comfort and ergonomics.
Disassembly of the Aeris Swopper can only be carried out in the factory as this requires special tools. Work such as replacing the gas spring may only be carried out by qualified personnel. Please contact our customer service for assistance.
