Genetically speaking, we still live in the bodies of Stone Age humans, for whom movement was vital for survival: walking, running, bending, climbing – everyday movements. The fact that we now spend most of our days sitting was not how nature intended it. And that's precisely what makes us sick.
Therefore, we have made it our mission to bring more movement into your life and thus ensure better health, well-being and overall quality of life.

How it all began...
The story of Aeris begins in 1990 with an observation from Dorothea Prodinger-Glöckl's physiotherapy practice: movement helps. But in everyday life, it's quickly forgotten. Her husband Josef Glöckl was also familiar with the problem and often worked sitting on a medicine ball due to his back pain. "Why don't you invent something so people in the office don't continue to sit themselves sick," his wife suggested to the trained engineer. No sooner said than done. In his garage, Josef Glöckl began to tinker, draw, and build the first prototypes. In 1996, this garage idea became a genuine world first: the Aeris Swopper was the first movement-promoting office chair. "Even with the first prototype, you could feel it: this is something completely different - an entirely new sitting experience," says Josef Glöckl.
The Birth of the Aeris Swopper
2020: Der Swopper zeigt sich im neuem Look
24 years after its first appearance, the Aeris Swopper got a facelift. With a modernized design, expanded fabric and color options, and the choice between a black or new white frame, it now adapts even better to any style. The spring settings have also been expanded: with a choice between Standard, High, and Low, the seating experience can now be customized even more individually. A classic that moves with the times and remains in motion to this day.

1996 - 2018
1996: The sitting revolution began with the Aeris Swopper.
2006: Ten years later, the Aeris Muvman, the first sit-stand chair for active working, followed.
2008: Shortly after, the Swopper was specially developed for children – the Aeris Swoppster.
2012: The Aeris 3Dee was created in response to the desire for an ergonomic office chair with a backrest.
2014: With the stylish rocking chair Aeris Oyo, we expanded our portfolio to include a movable lounge piece.
2018: With the Aeris Muvmat, the first active standing mat for the workplace, we brought movement into standing as well.

2022: With the Aeris Active Office Desk, we expanded our portfolio for the first time to include height-adjustable desk furniture.
2023: The Aeris Numo Task family with spring leg or column opened up new possibilities for dynamic work.
2023: It was complemented by the Aeris Numo Comfort family for active and comfortable meetings.
2025: The Aeris Linu introduced a new ergonomic office and conference chair, setting new standards for active sitting with its advanced flex kinematics.

Google wurde auf dem Swopper gegründet!
When Larry Page and Sergey Brin wrote their first lines of code for Google, they were actually sitting on an Aeris Swopper. Did we thus contribute to arguably the greatest milestone in internet history? Literally, most certainly. Because one thing is for sure: Great ideas need movement – not just in the mind.
