Aeris and Gabriel: A partnership with attitude

About a long-standing partnership with the goal of creating sustainable products that move people.

A good piece of furniture lasts a long time - and today, it should impress not only with its design and function, but also with its attitude. For Aeris and Gabriel, this means materials that are aesthetic and durable, proven in everyday use, and designed to be as sustainable as possible.

In this article, we explain how this shared conviction shapes the partnership and how the new Cura Loop fabric represents another major step forward in the circular economy.

Searched and found: About our partnership

Some relationships start small and grow into something big over time. This is also true of the partnership between Aeris and Danish fabric manufacturer Gabriel Fabrics.

The two companies have been working closely together since 2009 and now have a solid design and development partnership that goes far beyond a traditional supplier relationship. The collaboration is based on shared values, a clear understanding of design, and a vision of rethinking seating.

"For us, sustainability is not a trend, but part of the design. Our furniture is durable and repairable - and we ensure that all materials meet ecological standards." emphasizes Dietlind Walger, Head of Product Development at Aeris.

Gabriel Fabrics is a textile manufacturer with roots in the 19th century that combines state-of-the-art technologies with a focus on design, function, and sustainability. The fabric manufacturer stands for durable, certified materials with a clear design language and excellent feel that are both aesthetically appealing and able to withstand the demands of everyday use. With innovative solutions such as the Loop-Family, the company is setting new standards for the textile circular economy of tomorrow.

"Our fabrics are made from recycled materials, are free of harmful substances, certified and yet still sophisticated in design. We want people to love them and keep them for a long time.", says Benjamin Fett, Sales Director at Gabriel.

Sustainability in the textile industry

Compact, genuine, and approachable

In our new video format "Stuhlgeflüster" (Chair Talk) we talk to experts from fields such as design, sustainability, corporate health, and health and sports.

Episode 1 focuses on a topic that couldn't be more relevant: sustainability in the textile industry. Benjamin Fett discusses innovative approaches such as sustainable upholstery fabrics and the use of smart technologies, but also shares his personal views on responsibility, material selection, and the challenges associated with real change in the industry.

15 years, one principle: change through quality

A lot has changed in over 15 years of collaboration. Topics such as new work and sustainability have evolved from trends to social necessities. What has remained is the shared pursuit of genuine quality—and the commitment to keep not only the body moving, but also product development.

From the outset, it was clear that two companies with the same goal were working together: to design furniture that goes far beyond aesthetics and provides functional support for people in their everyday lives. The combination of our patented Aeris 3D technology and the durable, easy-care, and certified sustainable Gabriel fabrics is what makes our Aeris chairs so unique.

"You can recognize good furniture by the fact that it lasts. It still looks good and works well even after ten years - and may even be passed on to the next generation.", so says Dietlind Walger.

The perfect interplay of fabric and form

Good design begins with function and is reflected in form. Fabrics give a piece of furniture its character and determine whether it works in a room or not.

"When working from home, it is particularly important to have materials that support concentration while also creating a comfortable atmosphere.", says Benjamin Fett.

"Our furniture is often used in areas that are not clearly defined as “work” or “living” spaces. A Swopper might be placed at the dining table, a Numo in the reading corner. Fabrics help to soften these transitions." Dietlind Walger explains. Both the feel and the colors ensure that we feel comfortable in our surroundings, whether we are working or relaxing.

"Only when fabrics and furniture not only look good together but also prove their worth in everyday life can real added value be created.", Benjamin Fett sums it up.

Responsibility made tangible: Cura Loop from Gabriel

At Aeris, sustainability has been part of the design from the very beginning, which is why we already use Gabriel's Cura upholstery fabric for our products. This fabric is characterized by its resource-saving composition, which consists of 100% recycled post-consumer polyester. With its warm melange effect, soft feel, and high durability, Cura has long been an integral part of our product range.

With the development of Cura Loop, Gabriel has now gone one step further:

Cura Loop is the logical next step in the Cura philosophy: a technical and ecological upgrade that sets new standards. Unlike its predecessor Cura, which is made from post-consumer polyester, Cura Loop is made from 100% recycled polyester textile waste - and thus from a closed loop using innovative chemical recycling technology. The textile waste used to make Cura Loop is a mixture of used textiles and production residues from various sources, such as fashion and home textiles.

Discarded textiles are broken down, separated into their basic molecular components, and processed into new yarn. This creates a completely regenerated fabric without any loss of quality, while maximizing resource conservation.

💡Cura-Loop fabric facts

"We always consider our materials from both sides: they should be emotionally appealing, but also technically convincing.", Benjamin Fett von Gabriel describes it aptly. And that is exactly what Cura Loop does: visually and haptically, the fabric remains true to the popular original—soft, voluminous, cozy. At the same time, it takes the decisive step toward a true circular economy.

The new sustainable fabric is available in 30 colors - from calm to expressive - curated for modern working and living environments. Soft, comfortable, and robust, it is just right for the modern working day between laptop and living room.

Furniture that thinks for itself

Our ergonomic office solutions keep the body moving throughout the day. This actively prevents common ailments such as back pain and cardiovascular disease, as well as mental health issues. Recent studies show that regular physical activity is significantly linked to a lower risk of depression and anxiety disorders.

We create furniture that not only functions, but also improves everyday life in the long term. That's precisely why our Aeris seating furniture needs upholstery fabrics that are just as forward-thinking: Fabrics that are flexible enough to allow movement, durable enough to be sustainable, and comfortable enough to make everyone who sits on them feel good.

Gabriel's new Cura Loop fabric will be used to create furniture that not only impresses with its design, function, and ergonomics, but also makes a real contribution through its quality and durability. For the people who use it and for the planet we live on.

👉🏼 And this much can be said in advance: Cura Loop will definitely find a place in our product range starting next year, in 2026!
